HORSE Introduces Advanced Range Extender Powertrains for 800km Hybrid Travel

The new system offers a pure-electric range of 200km, with an additional 600km provided by the onboard engine.

HORSE, a global innovator in low-emission powertrain systems, has unveiled its next-generation Range Extender powertrains, designed to deliver a balanced and efficient driving experience. The new system offers a pure-electric range of 200km, with an additional 600km provided by the onboard engine, totaling 800km of travel distance. Unlike traditional plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the Range Extender’s engine does not directly drive the wheels but operates as an efficient generator, maintaining the battery charge and optimizing fuel consumption and emissions. This setup enables the vehicle to navigate low-emission zones in pure electric mode, while still accommodating long-distance travel needs when the battery is low. Furthermore, the Range Extender’s battery is significantly smaller than that of a typical electric vehicle (EV), reducing costs, weight, and reliance on critical minerals.

The CEO of HORSE, Patrice Haettel, emphasized the importance of diverse power generation solutions to meet varying consumer and technical demands worldwide. The new technology integrates seamlessly with both existing EV architectures and traditional combustion engine designs, offering flexibility and efficiency in vehicle packaging. The system’s battery can be charged using standard public chargers or domestic power supplies, and when paired with low-carbon fuels, the overall environmental impact remains competitive with long-range EVs. This innovation highlights HORSE’s commitment to advancing hybrid technologies and creating sustainable, adaptable power solutions for the future.
