THOR Industries has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation with the debut of the world’s first hybrid Class A motorhome, marking a significant leap forward in RV technology. Built on Harbinger’s electric medium-duty chassis, this hybrid platform integrates a low-emissions gasoline range extender, offering an estimated 500-mile range. This innovation aims to alleviate range anxiety while promoting sustainable travel. In addition to offering confident acceleration and smooth handling through advanced suspension systems, the platform allows for off-grid living by utilizing solar power and charging capabilities from traditional campsites or DC Fast Charger stations. Notably, it can even serve as a home backup power source or recharge other battery-powered devices.
This hybrid motorhome represents a collaboration between THOR and Harbinger to enhance the RVing experience, with the chassis designed specifically to meet the unique demands of Class A motorhomes. The electric powertrain delivers high torque and acceleration, making mountain driving and rough terrain more manageable for RVers. This first-of-its-kind model, available for dealer test drives, showcases THOR’s dedication to innovation in sustainable mobility while reinforcing its leadership in the RV industry. The vehicle’s advanced driver assistance systems and integrated power management position it as a flagship product in the electrification of RV travel, set to launch commercially in 2025.
