Ford Unveils ‘Pro Home Charging’ Solution for Company Cars

'Ford Pro Home Charging,' is designed for employees who need to charge company cars at home.

Ford has introduced a new AC charger targeted at companies lacking a central vehicle depot or full-time fleet manager. Dubbed ‘Ford Pro Home Charging,’ this solution is designed for employees who need to charge company cars at home. The package includes features like billing for charging processes, status monitoring, and preconditioning. The 22 kW charger will debut in the UK in summer 2024 and gradually expand to other European markets. Ford highlights that this launch coincides with the rollout of the E-Transit Custom, a new electric transporter expected to be delivered in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by the end of 2024. This vehicle supports AC charging at 11 kW, allowing a full charge in approximately 6.7 hours.

The charger is specifically designed for overnight home charging, integrating software that schedules charging during off-peak hours to optimize electricity costs. It also interacts with Ford Pro’s telematics system for easy travel cost reimbursement and accounting compliance. The comprehensive package includes advice, installation, maintenance, and a five-year warranty. Hans Schep, Managing Director of Ford Pro Europe, emphasizes that this solution leverages Ford’s extensive experience with small businesses, offering seamless integration with the Ford Pro ecosystem and robust aftersales support. Ford Pro, launched in 2021, oversees the company’s commercial vehicle services and continues to develop its eMobility ecosystem, with light commercial vehicles for Europe manufactured at Ford’s Turkish plants in Kocaeli.
