BMW has announced the market launch of its new BMW 5 Series Touring and its all-electric variant, the i5 Touring. The company also introduced the new 3 Series Sedan and Touring models, all of which are set for a global launch in July 2024. The i5 Touring, recently delivered to customers in Europe and Japan, is available in two versions: the i5 eDrive40 Touring with a 250 kW rear-axle electric motor and the more powerful i5 M60 xDrive Touring, which boasts a 442 kW dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Both variants are equipped with an 81.2 kWh battery.
In addition, BMW will release two plug-in hybrid versions of the BMW 5 Series Touring this summer. The BMW 530e Touring and the 530e xDrive Touring offer electric ranges of 83-95 kilometers and 82-89 kilometers, respectively. These plug-in hybrids feature a four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 220 kW/299 hp, and a 19.4 kWh battery. The new 3 Series Sedan and Touring models, which will also be available as plug-in hybrids with enhanced efficiency and an increased electric range due to a new 19.5 kWh battery, will be manufactured in Munich and San Luis Potosí, Mexico. For the Chinese market, the 3 Series Sedan will be produced at the Tiexi plant in Shenyang by BMW Brilliance Automotive. Both the 3 Series models will also come with petrol and diesel engine options.
