In the past week, Solaris Bus & Coach secured significant contracts to supply electric buses in Sweden, highlighting the company’s strong presence in the European e-mobility sector. Nobina, Sweden’s largest public transport operator, has placed an order for 88 electric buses from Solaris, which will serve the regions of Skåne, Värmland, and the city of Malmö. This order includes both the articulated Urbino 18 electric buses and the Urbino 15 LE electric models, with deliveries slated for 2024 and 2025. This procurement reinforces Solaris’ role in advancing eco-friendly urban transport solutions and marks a continued partnership between Solaris and Nobina in implementing zero-emission vehicles in suburban and urban areas.
The Urbino 15 LE electric buses, destined for Skåne and Värmland, are equipped with 240 kW central motors and Solaris High Energy batteries with a total capacity of over 560 kWh, ensuring efficient daily operations with overnight charging capabilities. These buses, tailored for the Scandinavian market, include features to withstand harsh weather conditions and additional lighting for passenger convenience. Meanwhile, Malmö will receive the Urbino 18 electric articulated buses, featuring the latest modular drive system and battery technology. Olivier Michard, a member of Solaris’ Management Board, expressed enthusiasm for contributing to Sweden’s greener public transport initiatives. Solaris continues to lead in the delivery of zero-emission buses in Europe, as evidenced by these recent contracts and previous agreements for e-buses in Stockholm and Kristianstad.
