Nyobolt Debuts Ultra-Fast Charging EV Prototype with Revolutionary Battery Technology

Nyobolt, a Cambridge-based company, has introduced an EV prototype featuring its groundbreaking ultra-fast charging batteries, designed in collaboration with CALLUM. This prototype, able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under five minutes using a 350kW DC charger, exemplifies Nyobolt’s potential to revolutionize electric vehicle charging. Initial tests indicate that these batteries not only offer rapid charging but also maintain longevity and efficiency, withstanding over 4,000 fast charge cycles and covering approximately 600,000 miles while retaining more than 80 percent capacity. This advancement is poised to significantly reduce the inconvenience of lengthy recharge stops, promising a more seamless and sustainable EV experience.

Nyobolt’s unique technology leverages patented carbon and metal oxide anode materials, integrated power electronics, and innovative cell design, supporting various high-demand applications from industrial machinery to consumer electronics. The prototype’s 35kWh battery can achieve a range of 155 WLTP miles after a full charge, with a significant portion of this range available after just a few minutes of charging. Independent tests by a leading global OEM have validated Nyobolt’s impressive battery life and minimal degradation, further solidifying its competitive edge over existing fast-charging solutions. The prototype’s compact, lightweight design also showcases the potential for creating more efficient, high-performance electric vehicles that are less resource-intensive. Nyobolt is already in discussions with several OEMs to incorporate its technology into future EV models, aiming to enhance the appeal and accessibility of electric vehicles. Furthermore, the company has plans for scalable battery production, potentially reaching up to two million cells per year. This scalable approach, combined with the potential for retrofitting existing EV platforms, highlights Nyobolt’s readiness to transform the automotive industry and beyond with its innovative battery technology.
