A new chapter in sustainable transportation has begun with MAN Truck & Bus delivering its first fully electric heavy-duty truck. The initial 40-tonne MAN eTGX truck was handed over to the DRÄXLMAIER Group, a leading automotive supplier, for transporting batteries to the Porsche plant in Leipzig. This marks the start of a zero-emission logistics solution, specifically designed for the Porsche Macan Electric. DRÄXLMAIER will expand this fleet, adding two more eTGX trucks by the end of the year, which will enhance their operations over a five-kilometer route between their location and the Porsche plant.

The MAN eTGX truck is an engineering marvel, equipped with a powerful 450 HP (330 kW) engine and a 534 kWh battery, of which 480 kWh is usable. The vehicle’s innovative features, including a fully digital driver’s workspace and a low-loader fifth-wheel design, are tailored to meet the demands of the automotive industry, offering better efficiency in transporting large yet lightweight parts. It also provides a charging capacity of 375 kW and is recognized for its ability to carry significantly more volume due to its ultra-tractor capabilities. These advancements position the MAN eTGX as a versatile and efficient solution for industries with complex transport needs.

MAN’s electric truck lineup is poised to grow, with future versions offering even more power, range, and fast-charging capabilities. The company has already seen strong interest, with over 2,500 orders and inquiries for their electric trucks. By 2030, MAN anticipates that half of its truck deliveries will be battery-electric. The expanded portfolio includes the smaller eTGL model, debuting at IAA 2024, and promises a comprehensive range of electric trucks from 12 to 50 tonnes. MAN is committed to leading the charge in sustainable, long-distance freight solutions for the future.
