Toyota Motor Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) are embarking on a new partnership to create a transformative “Mobility AI Platform” aimed at achieving a society with zero traffic accidents. Building on a shared commitment to social advancement through technology, the companies will integrate advanced telecommunications, AI, and infrastructure to support future mobility. Toyota’s development of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs) aligns with NTT’s telecommunications capabilities to create a seamless, data-driven communication system that enhances safety and security. This collaboration will involve an extensive infrastructure, encompassing high-speed communication and AI systems that can process large volumes of data to support autonomous driving and collision prevention.

The initiative includes the development of a three-pronged infrastructure approach with AI learning from real-world driving data and a distributed computing platform that leverages renewable energy sources to improve power efficiency. Starting in 2025, Toyota and NTT will begin development of the Mobility AI Platform, aiming for widespread adoption by 2030. Through this platform, Toyota and NTT envision partnerships with industry, government, and academia to establish a mobility ecosystem that connects people, vehicles, and infrastructure, ultimately creating safer and smarter transportation. With an investment of 500 billion yen, the collaboration highlights a large-scale, holistic approach to addressing traffic safety on a national and global scale.
