Danish EV charging platform Monta is making a significant move to expand beyond Europe, establishing its first U.S. headquarters in Miami. Backed by an $87 million funding round in early 2024, Monta plans to capitalize on its European experience to address the growing EV market in the U.S., a market projected to see nearly half of all new car sales as electric by 2030. Monta’s ambitious U.S. expansion goals include connecting 25,000 commercial charge points to its platform by the end of 2025, and reaching 1 million by 2030. The company has built a robust presence in Europe since 2020, streamlining EV charging for businesses and aiding hardware manufacturers with insights on charge point performance and maintenance. Partnerships with global players like Siemens have further strengthened its platform, which already hosts two million monthly charging sessions.

With its Miami headquarters, Monta also announced a strategic partnership with Emobi, North America’s leading EV charging ecosystem, allowing Monta’s software to support over 118,000 charge points across the U.S. and Canada. This collaboration aims to address persistent issues in the U.S. charging experience, such as unreliable charging sessions and software inefficiencies, by enhancing usability and operational performance. Monta’s CEO, Casper Rasmussen, highlights the company’s U.S. expansion as a means of broadening its growth potential and continuing to innovate for the global EV charging market. Emobi’s CEO, Lin Sun Fa, echoed this enthusiasm, emphasizing the shared vision of accessible, sustainable transportation and the role of comprehensive infrastructure in supporting the shift to electric vehicles.
