Vector and Hubject have joined forces to advance Plug & Charge (PnC) technology, aiming to simplify and streamline the electric vehicle (EV) charging process. The partnership arrives at a pivotal moment, with over 2.6 million PnC-ready vehicles currently on the road and the number steadily increasing. By collaborating, the companies seek to accelerate the adoption of PnC by enabling OEMs and charging station manufacturers to access Hubject’s QA (Pre-Production) and Production Certificates through Vector’s Security Manager. This integration, available via the newly released CANoe Version 18 SP3, provides a standardized pathway for implementing secure, interoperable charging technology. It supports comprehensive testing using the CANoe Test Package EV and CANoe Test Package EVSE, ensuring that EVs and charging stations meet the stringent ISO 15118 standards of interoperability and security.
Representatives from both companies emphasized the impact of this collaboration. Phanuel Hieber of Vector highlighted that this partnership will equip customers with the necessary tools to ensure compatibility and future readiness. Similarly, Omar Hasan of Hubject pointed out that the collaboration strengthens the technical backbone for OEMs and EVSE manufacturers, enhancing reliability and paving the way for future developments. PnC’s core advantage lies in its user-friendly experience, removing the need for physical authentication like cards or apps by employing secure digital certificates and encryption. This makes charging more straightforward, protecting user data and supporting the infrastructure, ultimately making EVs more attractive to consumers.
