Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has reached a remarkable milestone by surpassing six million electrified vehicle sales by the end of 2024. This accomplishment underscores the effectiveness of Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy, which promotes a diverse range of electrified powertrains—including battery electric, fuel cell electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid vehicles. By offering this variety, Toyota has enabled emissions reductions even in regions where infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles remains underdeveloped. As a result, the company has achieved a 50% reduction in average fleet emissions since 1995, reinforcing the impact of its diversified approach. In 2024 alone, TME achieved record-breaking sales of over 1.2 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles, with electrified models comprising 74% of total sales, demonstrating strong consumer demand for sustainable mobility solutions.

On a global scale, Toyota has exceeded 30 million electrified vehicle sales since launching the Prius in 1997, further validating its long-term commitment to sustainable transportation. Looking ahead, Toyota remains dedicated to achieving 100% CO2 reduction in new vehicle sales in Europe by 2035, aligning with its broader Environmental Challenge 2050, which targets carbon neutrality by 2050 and an earlier goal of 2040 for Europe. These milestones highlight Toyota’s commitment to innovation and adaptability in the evolving automotive landscape, ensuring that consumers worldwide have access to low-emission vehicles while progressing toward a fully sustainable future.
