KPIT Technologies, a pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions, has partnered with Trentar Energy Solutions to commercialize its groundbreaking sodium-ion battery technology. This collaboration marks a significant step in reducing reliance on lithium-based energy storage by introducing a more cost-effective and long-lasting alternative. Sodium-ion batteries offer extended lifespans, faster charging, and are manufactured using earth-abundant raw materials, making electric mobility more accessible. By transferring its advanced sodium-ion technology to Trentar, KPIT joins an exclusive group of innovators driving the next generation of energy storage solutions.

The partnership entails KPIT receiving an upfront technology transfer fee along with royalties over eight years, while Trentar will invest in a 3GWh manufacturing capacity to scale up production. Sodium-ion batteries have wide-ranging applications, from electric vehicles—including two, three, and four-wheelers—to public transport, grid storage, marine technology, and defense. Their cost-effectiveness, simplified supply chain, and improved safety make them a promising alternative to conventional lithium-ion batteries. This agreement aligns with KPIT’s commitment to sustainable mobility and strengthens Trentar’s position as a leader in emerging energy technologies.
