Polestar has introduced a new feature allowing Polestar 3 owners to integrate their car keys into Apple Wallet, significantly enhancing convenience and accessibility. With this update, users can seamlessly lock, unlock, and start their vehicles using their iPhone or Apple Watch without needing to take them out. The integration also includes the ability to share digital keys with up to five other users through various messaging platforms like Messages, Mail, AirDrop, and WhatsApp. Owners retain control over access permissions, deciding whether shared users can merely unlock the vehicle or also drive it. Additionally, the Power Reserve function ensures that users can still operate their car even when their iPhone requires charging, further improving reliability.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller emphasized the company’s commitment to providing a premium experience by responding directly to customer demands. He highlighted how this feature aligns with Polestar’s broader strategy of continuous vehicle enhancement through over-the-air (OTA) software updates, a practice the company has embraced since the release of the Polestar 2.
