Turkish manufacturer Bozankaya has secured a landmark victory by winning the largest trolleybus tender in Czechia’s history, valued at $50 million. This deal, signed with Prague Public Transit Company (DPP), involves the delivery of 70 modern trolleybuses for several urban routes. The tender was not without controversy, as Czech-based competitor Skoda raised objections, alleging that Bozankaya might have benefited from illegal public subsidies and questioning the feasibility of its proposed delivery timeline. Despite these challenges, the Czech government upheld Bozankaya’s win, emphasizing the significance of this project for Prague’s public transport network.
Bozankaya’s advanced trolleybuses, branded as SNG T12 DPP, will feature electric components from Polish manufacturer Medcom. These 12-meter-long vehicles are designed to accommodate up to 82 passengers, including 32 seated, and will be equipped with modern features tailored to the needs of urban transit. This tender adds to Bozankaya’s track record of producing state-of-the-art public transportation solutions, having previously supplied trolleybuses for Timisoara, Romania, and trams for Naples, Italy. The deal is a testament to Bozankaya’s growing reputation and technical capabilities in the global transport sector.
Founded by Murat Bozankaya in 1989 as a research company in Germany, Bozankaya shifted its operations to Türkiye in 2003 and has since grown into a leading name in public transportation. With a state-of-the-art facility in Ankara and a robust workforce of 1,400 employees, the company has achieved several milestones, including Türkiye’s first fully electric bus and low-floor tram. International accolades, such as the “Company of the Year in Europe” award in 2015 and the “Most Innovative Company” title in 2021, underscore its commitment to innovation and excellence. Winning this Czech tender solidifies Bozankaya’s position as a global leader in sustainable transportation solutions.
