Its longevity and rapid recharge capability also reduce downtime, making it a cost-effective option for commercial deployment.

Battery-as-a-Service Empowers Affordable Urban Transport

Toshiba is piloting a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model in Bangkok that makes sustainable transport more accessible. By removing the need for upfront battery investment, this model supports electric motorcycle taxi drivers in adopting cleaner mobility. Combined with SCiB’s thermal safety, this initiative helps mitigate the region’s concerns about battery fires—one of the leading obstacles to EV adoption in Southeast Asia.
