Stellantis Launches New Electric Cargo Van

Stellantis Pro Onehas taken a significant step by launching production of the Cargo Box BEV.

The Rise of Electric Commercial Mobility

According to industry data, Europe is leading the transition to electric vans and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). With manufacturers competing to offer more efficient, capable, and customizable battery-electric options. In this context, Stellantis Pro One, the commercial vehicle arm of Stellantis, has taken a significant step by launching production of the Cargo Box BEV and new electric recreational vehicles at its Italian Atessa plant. This move supports the group’s strategy to lead the zero-emissions LCV segment and meet evolving professional and lifestyle mobility needs.

New Electric Cargo Van Redefines Capability

The newly introduced Cargo Box BEV sets a benchmark for fully electric light commercial vehicles. Built at the Stellantis CustomFit Center in Atessa, it features a maximum cargo capacity of 18.3 m³, with an L4 version expanding to 20.5 m³. It has a 200 kW (270 hp) electric motor and a 110 kWh battery. The van offers a driving range of up to 323 km. Enhanced torque (410 Nm) and optional high-volume configurations make it ideal for logistics, delivery, and heavy-load operations. Besides, the new 22kW AC onboard charger—standard on this model—cuts charging time in half, completing a full recharge in just six hours.

Atessa Plant: A Global Benchmark in EV Production

Spanning 1.2 million square meters, the Atessa facility is Europe’s largest plant dedicated to light commercial vehicles. It supplies products to over 75 countries, handles 15 km of production lines, and supports more than 2,500 unique vehicle configurations. The integration of Stellantis’ CustomFit program at Atessa enables direct vehicle customization, including motorhomes, cargo vans, and specialty conversions. Half of Stellantis’ LCVs are now customized through this program, highlighting the brand’s flexibility and focus on customer-specific applications.

Innovation in Recreational EVs and Custom Solutions

Stellantis is also deepening its footprint in the recreational vehicle (RV) market with a fully electric offering tailored for campers. Thanks to the long-standing dominance of the Ducato platform, which supports 75% of Europe’s campers, Stellantis continues to innovate for mobile living. The company’s breakthrough “BacktoBack” solution connects dual cabins for improved logistics and lower environmental impact. This innovation reflects Stellantis’ agility in meeting market trends and strengthening its leadership in electric RV manufacturing.

Leadership in Commercial EVs Through Smart Partnerships

Through a network of over 550 certified partners, Stellantis Pro One ensures seamless integration of third-party conversions with factory-level quality and warranties. In 2024 alone, conversions grew by 25%, with a 35% rise in sales of modified vehicles. By combining in-house capabilities with external collaboration, Stellantis enhances the efficiency, flexibility, and market reach of its electric vehicle ecosystem. With this scalable model, the brand is equipped to meet both fleet and recreational EV demand across Europe and beyond.

A Strategic Step Toward Zero-Emission Mobility

Stellantis Pro One’s launch of the Cargo Box BEV and its new line of electric RVs demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable commercial mobility. With robust production capabilities, a powerful customization program, and a growing partner network, Stellantis is redefining what electric commercial vehicles can achieve. This expansion not only reinforces its leadership in the European LCV sector but also aligns with global goals for zero-emission transportation.
