Syensqo’s Bright Innovation Enhances EV Safety Standards

Syensqo has introduced a standout addition to its Amodel® PPA product family.

A New Chapter in EV Component Safety

Safety, visibility, and thermal management have emerged as key priorities in EV design. One specific area of focus is the clear identification of high-voltage components within EV architectures. Bright orange coloring has become the industry standard, signaling live, high-voltage parts to protect technicians and users. According to international regulations such as ISO 6469-3 and IEC 60664, this color distinction is crucial in minimizing risk. In this landscape, materials innovation is critical, and companies like Syensqo are stepping up with advanced polymer solutions tailored for e-mobility.

Syensqo Introduces Amodel® PPA HFFR-4133 Orange

Syensqo has introduced a standout addition to its Amodel® PPA product family: the Amodel® PPA HFFR-4133 Orange (OR). This vibrant orange, flame-retardant polypthalamide offers superior color retention under heat and meets all relevant UL and ISO standards. Designed specifically for EV components like connectors and busbars, it addresses both safety and manufacturing efficiency. By eliminating the need for in-press coloring, manufacturers can simplify their processes while ensuring regulatory compliance. This pre-colored resin also delivers long-term visual stability—a crucial advantage for components constantly exposed to thermal stress.

Optimized for High Voltage and Thermal Exposure

The new grade is hot water moldable and achieves a V0 rating, indicating excellent flame resistance. These qualities make it ideal for high-voltage applications in electric vehicles. Its stable, high-visibility color enhances technician safety during vehicle maintenance or battery service. Syensqo continues to push boundaries, aligning its innovations with the specific needs of EV OEMs and component suppliers. The focus on safety, ease of production, and performance illustrates how materials science is driving the evolution of e-mobility.

Expanding the Battery Safety Portfolio

The introduction of Amodel® PPA HFFR-4133 OR complements Syensqo’s growing portfolio of battery-focused solutions. Other advanced materials include Xencor™ LFT XTreme PPA LGF-1045 ECHO BP, which offers protection against thermal runaway, and Amodel® PPA AE-8945 HFFR for pyrofuses. These products are engineered for demanding EV environments, such as DC fast charging systems and energy-dense battery packs. With these developments, Syensqo reinforces its role as a key enabler of safer, more efficient electric vehicles by integrating innovation at the materials level.
