The signing ceremony, held in Abu Dhabi, saw the collaboration sealed by Fawaz Al Muharrami, Executive Director of Clean Energy and Deputy COO at Masdar, and Martin Daum, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of Daimler Truck. This partnership between two industry leaders marks a significant step forward in the global effort to reduce CO2 emissions in commercial transportation.
Martin Daum of Daimler Truck declared the company’s goal to achieve a sustainable transportation. The UAE has set ambitious targets to become a leading producer and supplier of low-carbon hydrogen by 2031, aligning with the goals of the European Green Deal and the Paris Climate Agreement. Masdar, renowned for its commitment to renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies, has developed projects in over 40 countries, with plans to reach a total electricity generation capacity of 100GW by 2030.
With a focus on both hydrogen and battery-powered vehicles, Daimler Truck is pursuing its sustainability agenda, aiming to make its entire range of trucks and buses CO2-neutral in driving operation across its core markets by 2039.
The collaboration between Daimler Truck and Masdar signifies a milestone in the transition toward sustainable transportation, offering a promising solution to decarbonize road freight transport in Europe and beyond.
