Caterham Teams with XING Mobility for Immersion-Cooled EV Battery Tech

Caterham has partnered with XING Mobility to integrate advanced immersion-cooled battery technology into its electric sports coupé prototype, Project V

Caterham, renowned for its lightweight and fun-to-drive vehicles, has partnered with XING Mobility to integrate advanced immersion-cooled battery technology into its electric sports coupé prototype, Project V. First revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023 and later showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon in early 2024, Project V represents Caterham’s commitment to maintaining its heritage while embracing the future of electric mobility. Collaborating with TOKYO R&D Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Caterham aims to bring this prototype to production by 2025.

A key milestone in this endeavor is the decision to incorporate XING Mobility’s IMMERSIO™ Cell-to-Pack (CTP) immersion-cooled battery system. Known for its exceptional thermal management, safety, and energy density of 200 Wh/kg, the system uses dielectric liquid immersion for efficient heat dissipation, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This technological advancement complements the e-Axle developed by Yamaha, another crucial component in the vehicle’s design. As Caterham gears up for the next reveal of Project V at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, the collaboration with XING Mobility signals a significant step forward in blending cutting-edge EV technology with Caterham’s distinctive driving philosophy.
