Ensuring Compliance with IEC 61851-23 and Industry Standards

Electric vehicle charging infrastructure must adhere to rigorous standards like IEC 61851-23, which governs conductive charging system safety, interoperability, and functionality. The newly installed testing system enables comprehensive tests including insulation resistance, overvoltage protection, control pilot continuity, and fault condition simulation. These measures are essential to verifying that charging stations and EVs operate safely under all conditions. Further, automated testing with the comframe platform improves test repeatability, speed, and reliability. This benefits manufacturers and certification bodies in evaluating compliance with evolving standards.

Cutting-Edge Test Features and Scalability

The test solution integrates two 160 kW battery emulators that closely simulate real EV batteries for accurate charging behavior analysis. Additionally, it offers seamless switching between tests on EVs or EVSEs and allows simultaneous operation at high power levels. The system is compatible with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) chamber testing, providing full-spectrum evaluation capabilities critical for modern electric vehicle systems. Its modular and scalable architecture, paired with user-friendly automation software, ensures the laboratory can efficiently adapt to future testing demands as fast-charging technology advances.

Strengthening Thailand’s Role in EV Testing and Development

With this advanced setup, the Thai laboratory significantly expands its capacity to conduct high-performance EV and charging infrastructure testing. This bolsters the region’s role in supporting the electric mobility transition by ensuring charging solutions meet international quality and safety benchmarks. The ability to conduct development, validation, and end-of-line testing on high-power charging systems shortens product development cycles and increases market confidence. As the electric vehicle ecosystem grows rapidly worldwide, such investments in cutting-edge test technology are crucial for reliable, scalable, and safe electromobility solutions.
