Transforming Gas Stations into EV Fast Charging Hubs

Ads‑Tec has teamed up with AVIA to roll out ChargePost 300 kW EV fast chargers at over 800 AVIA stations in Germany.

Ads‑Tec Energy, renowned for its battery‑based energy storage and fast charging systems, has teamed up with AVIA to roll out ChargePost 300 kW EV fast chargers at over 800 AVIA stations in Germany—and 3,000 across Europe. By leveraging on‑site battery storage and intelligent load management, these chargers deliver ultra‑fast speeds without costly grid upgrades. The partnership focuses first on sites where limited grid capacity would traditionally hamper high‑power charging.

A Showcase of Solar Integration and Smart Energy Use

One standout location in Bocholt combines a 45 kWp photovoltaic array with Ads‑Tec’s energy management. AVIA upgraded the entire station’s building technology, feeding solar energy through smart load management into both customer services and EV charging. This synergy maximizes on‑site generation, minimizes grid draw, and illustrates how existing stations can embrace e‑mobility efficiently.

Expanding Revenue with DOOH Advertising

Beyond charging, AVIA is exploring digital out‑of‑home (DOOH) advertising on its ChargePost units. A 75‑inch display is already live in Blomberg, with tailored marketing plans in development. By monetizing advertising space, operators gain an extra income stream that enhances the business case for fast‑charging deployment.

Enabling Ultra‑Fast Charging at Challenging Sites

Traditional grid limitations no longer block EV infrastructure growth. ChargePost’s modular design and load‑balancing algorithms let gas stations offer up to 300 kW charging on weak connections. According to Ads‑Tec’s CEO Thomas Speidel, this approach “enables ultra‑fast charging without costly grid infrastructure upgrades,” proving that smart technology can future‑proof legacy filling stations and drive sustainable mobility.
