Wolfspeed, a leader in Silicon Carbide technology, and ZF, a global technology company providing next-generation mobility solutions, have formed a strategic partnership, including the establishment of a laboratory to drive advancements in Silicon Carbide systems for mobility, industrial and energy applications. Wolfspeed and ZF will further advance Silicon Carbide systems by establishing a joint R&D center in Germany. ZF invests in Wolfspeed for the construction of the world’s most advanced and largest Silicon Carbide plant.
The world’s most advanced and largest 200mm Silicon Carbide plant will be built in Ensdorf, Germany. The strategic partnership also includes a joint research center in Germany. The aim of this collaboration is to develop breakthrough innovations for Silicon Carbide systems, products and applications. Other cooperation partners will be invited to contribute to the innovation process.
In particular, the R&D center will focus on the development of Silicon Carbide systems and devices to meet specific requirements in all mobility areas. On the factory side, a fully automated advanced 200mm wafer fab will be built in Saarland, Germany.
