comemso Launches Easy Chester Ultimate EVSE Tester

comemso electronics GmbH has introduced Easy Chester Ultimate, a mobile system for EVSE testing. The new platform combines several charging infrastructure tests within one portable device.

Easy Chester Ultimate supports AC, DC CCS, and CHAdeMO charging stations. It also analyzes charging communication and checks electrical safety on both connection sides. The system targets commissioning, maintenance, repair, and periodic inspection activities. Technicians can use it directly at charging stations during different lifecycle stages.

Previously, these tasks often required several test instruments and separate operating procedures. They also involved different documentation processes for electrical and communication results. Easy Chester Ultimate brings those activities into one structured testing environment. An integrated 10.1-inch touchscreen guides users through each selected procedure.

The system combines measurements, communication sequences, and results within one report. Users can create configurable PDF test reports for completed testing activities. Despite its expanded functions, the system weighs 15.7 kilograms. Comemso says this makes it significantly lighter than its predecessor.

Dr.-Ing. Kiriakos Athanasas, CEO of comemso electronics GmbH, explained the product’s design approach. He said the system combines charging standards with a user-focused testing experience.

Three EVSE Testing Levels

Reliable charging station evaluation requires more than a successful charging session. A station may communicate correctly while still presenting an electrical safety problem. Conversely, a station may be installed correctly but fail during operation. It may not start or stop charging sessions consistently.

For this reason, Easy Chester Ultimate examines three different testing areas. These include functionality, communication, and electrical safety.

Functional and Communication Testing

Depending on configuration, the system supports functional tests for AC, CCS, and CHAdeMO stations. It also checks the Control Pilot and Proximity Pilot signals.

The system can also test Power Line Communication. This includes the Signal Level Attenuation Characterization process, commonly known as SLAC.

Digital charging communication can be analyzed under several recognized standards. These include DIN 70121, ISO 15118-2, and ISO 15118-3.

The system therefore examines communication between the charging station and simulated vehicle. It can help technicians analyze charging session behavior and communication sequences.

Electrical Safety Testing

Electrical safety testing covers the grid side and vehicle-facing interface. This allows technicians to examine different parts of the charging station connection. Configurable PDF Reports

The system transfers measurements and test results automatically into PDF reports. Communication sequences can also be included within the shared documentation process. The system evaluates individual test steps as “Passed” or “Failed.” These assessments apply only to the tests performed during the selected procedure. This distinction helps technicians identify specific deviations. A station could pass communication testing while failing an electrical safety measurement.

Reports can be sent by email directly from the system. This reduces separate documentation steps after completing field work. Wireless firmware updates support continued system maintenance. Integrated device checks provide additional support during field operation. Optional remote support can also assist users during selected service activities. These features aim to simplify use outside laboratory environments.

Applications Throughout the Charging Lifecycle

Easy Chester Ultimate supports several teams working with charging infrastructure. These include installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and inspection teams. International Standards and Flexible Configurations

Easy Chester Ultimate supports various charging interfaces, depending on configuration. Supported AC connections include Type 1 and Type 2.

The system can also support CCS Combo 1 and CCS Combo 2. NACS support is available according to SAE J3400.

CHAdeMO is another supported charging interface. This gives the system coverage across several important charging standards.

The supported standards and protocols include IEC 61851-1 and DIN 70121. ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-3 are also included.

The selected system configuration determines the available interfaces and protocols. Customers can therefore match the tester with their required charging applications.

Optional Long-Duration Testing

Easy Chester Ultimate supports optional extensions for additional applications. A Long Duration Unit enables longer charging cycles. Longer tests can help technicians examine time-dependent faults. These faults may not appear during short charging sessions.

External DC loads provide another available extension. They support higher-power testing over longer periods. These options expand the system’s use beyond short functional checks. They can support investigations requiring extended charging operation.

The announcement does not specify one fixed configuration for every customer. Instead, available functions depend on the selected system setup.

The Easy Chester product family has been available since 2016. Since then, it has supported charging infrastructure testing worldwide.
